MOORHEAD, MN (KFGO) – The Moorhead Police Department has released detailed investigative findings regarding the death of Sahar Ramirez, citing a need for transparency amid widespread community concern and online misinformation.
While law enforcement authorities typically limit public disclosures regarding cases believed to be suicides, officials said the intense public interest and circulating rumors prompted them to speak openly about the timeline and evidence.
Ramirez was reported missing on Thursday, June 25. Following an extensive multi-agency search utilizing specialized teams, Minnesota Search and Rescue located her body on the morning of Tuesday, June 30, near the Red River.
According to police, preliminary autopsy findings revealed pill fragments in Ramirez’s stomach, and a pill bottle was recovered next to her body. Investigators found no signs of physical injury or trauma. Officials stated that all current evidence points to suicide, pending final toxicology results.
As part of the investigation, detectives reviewed verified surveillance footage, digital data, and witness statements from June 25. The evidence shows Ramirez was alone when she visited a local auto shop around midday, where she left a handwritten suicide note. She later took a cab by herself and was dropped off near the intersection of Eighth Street and 24th Avenue South.
Police said there is no evidence placing anyone with her after that drop-off, and her cellphone activity ceased later that afternoon in the same area where her body was eventually found.
The department also directly addressed a video circulating on social media depicting an incident of domestic violence involving Ramirez’s husband. Police confirmed the video is authentic but noted it stems from a 2022 incident that occurred in Dilworth, Minnesota, and was handled by the Dilworth Police Department at the time.
While calling the video “deeply disturbing,” Moorhead investigators emphasized that digital, physical, and witness evidence places the husband in Ottertail County during Ramirez’s final known movements. Police stated there is no evidence supporting foul play, though the department remains open to trailing any new, credible information that emerges.
Ramirez’s children are safe and are currently staying with extended family, according to the department.
