FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) Voter turnout in Fargo’s primary has been busy at the Ramada. Election official Ron Anderson says turnout at the Ramada hotel during the early voting period was light, but election day brought a significant increase in participation.
“When we went through with early voting it was not very busy at all, but we’ve had lines all day long”
Anderson says over 2700 voters had cast ballots at his polling site alone, but despite the large turnout, he describes the atmosphere as calm.
“Most people just want to come and vote, they want to be heard, they are adamant about being heard, so they will peacefully, quietly, stand in line until it’s their turn”
Poll workers arrived at 5:00 a.m. to prepare for the day, and Anderson said voters were already showing up when polls opened at 7:00 a.m. He noted that it was difficult to identify a peak period because turnout remained strong throughout the day.
Final turnout numbers are expected later tonight.
