MINNESOTA (KFGO/Minnesota News Network) – On News and Views, Democratic candidate for Minnesota governor, Senator Amy Klobuchar, spoke about her 2002 conviction of Judge Roland Amundson when she was Hennepin County Attorney as why she believes she does what’s right despite party affiliation.
“I actually put a judge of my own party, someone appointed by a Democrat who was very well known, in prison for ripping off a woman with disabilities,” Klobuchar explained. “I just think that at this moment in time, you’ve got to do your job without fear or favor.”
Republican candidate for governor, Speaker of the Minnesota House Lisa Demuth, said fraud has always been the number one issue in this race.
“That is exactly what we are hearing from people across the state, so I think that is going to be the thing,” Demuth said. “That’s what we started with and it wasn’t just because it was a popular thing, it was because of the fact that people are tired of having their tax dollars stolen.”
Klobuchar said the deadly shootings of former Minnesota Speaker of the House Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, the Annunciation Church hooting in Minneapolis, Operation Metro Surge and fraud issues helped make her decision to want to leave Senate leadership and return home.
“I love my job. I actually do in the Senate, but I love my state more. That decision was made by Tim Walz and I had to make a decision. It was truly based on my love for our state and my strong belief that we can get to a better place,” Klobuchar said.
Demuth was asked if she wins what she will be thinking about Wednesday morning.
“How to save the state and turn us back around and get us on the course that we desperately need that Minnesotans are asking for which is common sense,” Demuth explained.
Real Clear Politics’ average of four polls held in October gives Klobuchar a 12 point lead over Demuth.
