FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KFGO-KBRF) – A Fergus Falls man has been charged in connection with a string of home and church burglaries.
Prosecutors say Christopher Yost, 38, was seen on a Ring camera at a home in Underwood on October 5, tampering with the camera. Officers reviewing the footage recognized Yost and later arrested him at a traffic stop.
In Yost’s vehicle, officers found multiple items that the homeowner confirmed were from their garage. They also found a white substance consistent with methamphetamine in two Ziploc baggies weighing about 28 grams.
Court documents say Yost admitted to investigators that he had broken into multiple homes and churches across Otter Tail County, taking things like sewing machines, a tool case, copper tubing, and in the case of the churches, small amounts of cash.
Investigators also tied Yost to a break-in at a home in Fergus Falls where a check was taken and fraudulently cashed for $2,250. Yost denied taking anything from that home but said he was with the individual that did. He also said that he purchases methamphetamine from the Twin Cities to sell locally.
Yost made his first court appearance Wednesday morning and has been charged with three counts of 2nd degree burglary of a residence and one count of 2nd degree burglary of a church.
