(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks would break the game open against the Milkmen in the ninth inning, giving them the edge over Milwaukee. The RedHawks would start lefty Matt Walker who would face off against former RedHawk Angelo Cabral.
The first run of this game would come in the top of the fourth off the bat of Eric Filia, who clubbed an opposite field solo home run to give the RedHawks a 1-0 lead.
The Milkmen would answer back in the bottom of the sixth. Alec Olund would get on base to begin the inning. Olund would steal second to get into scoring position with one out. Chase Waddell would come up with two outs in the inning, hitting a fly ball to center field. Jesus Lujano would lose the ball in the sun and be on the hook for an error. Olund would score and tie the game up at one.
In the top of the ninth the RedHawks would break this game open. Eric Filia would reach first on a single to lead off the inning, followed by a Matt Kroon walk. Tucupita Marcano would hit an RBI single, and just two pitches later Manny Garza would drive a ball for an RBI double. Brian Fuentes matched Marcano with an RBI single of his own to extend the lead. Michael Snyder would bring in the final insurance run with a sacrifice fly to make it 5-1.
Edinson Batista would finish his three inning relief effort by not allowing a run to close out the game in the bottom of the ninth.
RedHawks starter Matt Walker would go 6.0 innings, giving up 1 unearned run on 6 hits, walking 3 and striking out 6. Edinson Batista would pick up his 7th win of the season.
Angelo Cabral would go 6.0 innings, giving up 1 run on 3 hits, walking 1 and striking out 8. Reliever Hunter Bryan was charged with the loss.
