(KNFL/KFGO) – The RedHawks and Winnipeg Goldeyes played a double header on Tuesday evening. Game 1 was a continuation of a June 15th game that was rained out in the fourth inning. The RedHawks would start the game up 11-1. A quick recap of highlights from the first part of that June game include a Jose Sermo 3-run homerun, Brian Fuentes solo homerun, and a Dillon Thomas 2 run HR.
The Goldeyes resumed the game with runners on first and second base. They each advanced a base on a Bryce Brassfield wild pitch. The next batter, Ray-Patrick Didder would hit a two run double off the outfield wall to make it 11-3. In the bottom of the 4th inning, Matt Kroom crushed a Mitch Lambson pitch off the center field scoreboard to make it 12-3.
In the top of the 5th, the Goldeyes would score runs on a Max Murphy base hit RBI that got him all the way to 3rd base on a Brian Fuentes error. Murphy would be driven in by Ramon Bramasco to make it 12-5.
In the top of the 6th, the Goldeyes had the bases loaded when Ramon Bramasco hit a two run single to make it 12-7. That would be all for Bryce Brassfield who was replaced by Jon Beymer who got the last out of the 6th inning. The RedHawks got some offense going in the bootom of the 6th. Matt Kroon who homered in the 4th, hit a two-run double to make it 14-7. Jesus Lujano and Juan Fernandez would each hit RBI singles to give the RedHawks a 16-7 lead.
In the bottom of the 8th, Juan Fernandez would hit a RBI single to bring in Aidan Byrne from third to make it 17-7.
Kahler Key would pitch the last 1.2 innings allowing 0 hits, 2 walks with 2 strikeouts and the RedHawks would finish a game two and a half months in the making with a 17-7 victory.
GAME 2 (7 innings)
The RedHawks would send Kolby Kiser to the mound in game 2 to face Aidan Newton of the Goldeyes. The Goldeyes got to Kolby Kiser early in the top of the 1st. With runners on first and second base, Noah Marcelo hit a RBI single to make it 1-0. Max Murphy followed with a RBI fielder’s choice and then Roby Enríquez put down a two out surprise bunt single to make it 3-0 Goldeyes.
In the top of the 2nd inning, Winnipeg had runners on second and third with one out when Ray-Patrick Didder hit a sacrifice fly to give the Goldeyes a 4-0 lead.
The Goldeyes would increase their lead in the top of the 4th with a Kevin García sacrifice fly to make it 5-0.
In the top of the 5th, the Goldeyes would continue to score runs. Ray-Patrick Didder would single and then steal second base. Didder would move to third on a sacrifice fly. Noah Marcelo would then walk and steal second base. With runners on second and third, Max Murphy would hit a two run triple. Roby Enriquez would follow with a RBI single to make it 8-0.
Goldeyes Aidan Newton would pitch a complete 7 inning game for Winnipeg allowing 0 runs on 5 hits with 1 walk and 1 strikeout.
