MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – The historic Comstock House in Moorhead has hosted its final day of regular tours for the 2026 season – but, based on strong summer attendance, they’re excited to see how folks turn up for the other events scheduled for the rest of the year.
The Victorian mansion, built in 1882, opened for tours this season back in June.
Despite the house only being accessible on Fridays and Saturdays, the Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County said they saw close to 150 visitors this season, which is an extremely high number for them.
“We implemented a new system with admissions. People can buy a combined admission at the Hjemkomst Museum, and here as well for a 20% discount, so we’ve gotten a lot of traction with that,” explained assistant site manager Belen Ortega.
“We’re hoping that traction persists for the next season as well,” she added.
Even though Saturday, August 22 was the final day of standard tours, Comstock House staff are looking forward to October, when their Flashlight Tours begin.
