Roger Moe
Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KFGO-KDLM) – The Lakes Region Builders Association has appointed former Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Roger Moe as its new executive officer.
The Detroit Lakes based organization represents home builders, tradespeople and other industry professionals across Becker, Otter Tail, Wilkin, Norman and Mahnomen counties.
Moe served in the Minnesota Senate from 1970 to 2003 and holds the record as the state’s longest serving Senate Majority Leader, serving in that position for 22 years. His legislative legacy includes the creation of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System and the Environmental Trust Fund.
Moe says he’s excited to work with the builders association to support an industry that is an economic foundation for western Minnesota. He says housing, skilled trades and community development are essential to the region’s vitality.
The Lakes Region Builders Association was founded in 1984 and supports the building industry through education, advocacy, its annual regional Home Show and student scholarships.
