MOORHEAD (KFGO-KVRR) – Protestors demonstrated at the workplace of the husband of Sahar Ramirez this weekend. They say they’re upset with the decision by Moorhead Police to not make any arrests in connection to her death.
Ramirez was found dead near the Red River last month. An online video has been circulating showing a domestic violence incident involving Ramirez and her husband. Moorhead Police confirmed that the video was real but say it was four years old and dealt with at the time.
“Every single person here texted me and let me know they were going to come out here, and I really appreciate them,” said Hayder Alkhafaji, Ramirez’s brother.
“It’s hot outside, they don’t have to be out here. It’s the weekend, everyone’s been working the whole week. But they actually came out here to help me and support us in this time,” he added.
Her family says they’re grateful for the support from the community. They’re asking for Sahar’s body to be returned by authorities so she can be given a traditional Muslim burial.
