(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, or the Fargo Woodchippers on Friday night, would play host to the Cleburne Railroaders for a three-game weekend series. This would be the final series before the All-Star break.
Cleburne would be hot right away as in the top of the 1st inning, Cole Foster drove in a run on an RBI single. Then, the next batter was Caleb McNeely, and he crushed a 2-run home run to left field to make it 3-0 Railroaders.
Fargo would respond in the bottom half of the 1st, as Dillon Thomas would launch a 3-run homer deep into right field to tie it at 3.
Aiden Byrne would give the Woodchippers a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the 3rd on an RBI triple. Jesus Lujano would make it 5-3 after driving in a run on a fielder’s choice.
Cleburne would pull to within 5-4 after a bases loaded walk in the top of the 5th, and they’d still have the bases loaded. But, Woodchippers pitcher, Angelo Cabral, would strike out Jonny Barditch swinging. The Woodchippers bullpen would shut down the Railroaders the rest of the way en route to a 5-4 win with Tyler Jeans picking up the save.
After starting pitcher Matt Walker in the top of the 5th, Fargo’s bullpen was lights out. Angelo Cabral, Mason Pelio, Parker Harm, and Tyler Jeans would combine for 4 and a 1/3 shutout innings. The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks are now 2-0 when they are represented as the Fargo Woodchippers this season.
Game 2 of the series is Saturday night with the pregame show set for 5:40 PM on 740 The FAN KNFL AM Fargo/107.3 FM, 740thefan.com, and the 740 The FAN mobile app.
