DETROIT LAKES, Minn. (KFGO) – A tornado struck the west side of Floyd Lake just north of Detroit Lakes in Becker County Monday night, injuring two people and causing significant storm damage.
Emergency responders are surveying damage to homes, trees, power lines and other properties. The public is being asked to avoid the Floyd Lake area while damage assessments are being done and services are being restored.
Two people suffered non-life threatening injuries in the storm. They were taken to Essentia St. Mary’s in Detroit Lakes for treatment.
An emergency shelter has been set up at M-State College on Highway 34 for people displaced by the storm.
Emergency responders are still working to find out more information and will provide details as they become available.
