WAHPETON (KFGO) — A Wahpeton man is facing several charges for fighting with officers and breaking a squad car window while being arrested for DUI.
A Wahpeton Police report says officers stopped a pickup just before 8 p.m. Saturday. Officers tried to arrest 30-year-old Leonardo Zubiate for DUI after finding open alcohol bottles in his vehicle.
The police report says while being arrested, Zubiate kicked and hit one officer, and spat on another. He was brought to the ground, where he kicked a squad car. He was eventually restrained and put into the squad. En route to jail, he kicked out a back window. At the jail, he continued to fight with officers, spat on another, and made threats.
Zubiate is charged with felony preventing arrest, assaulting officers, DUI, and driving with a suspended license.
