WAHPETON, N.D. (KFGO/KNOX) – A Wahpeton man is facing gross sexual imposition charges after he allegedly sexually assaulted a girl who was younger than 15 years old.
Colton Meyer is charged in Richland County District Court. Court documents say the assault happened in the fall of last year. The girl met Meyer on Snapchat and asked him to buy alcohol. Investigators said Meyer picked her up and brought her to his home in Wahpeton.
The girl says Meyer brought her to a basement room where they had unwanted sex. Court documents say the girl gave a description of the home’s basement that matched what investigators photographed.
Meyer allegedly acknowledged a sexual encounter happened and said he knew the girl was underage. He faces a minimum of five years in prison.
