GRAND FORKS, N.D. (UND Athletics)– Guards Eli King and Greyson Uelmen from the North Dakota men’s basketball team both earned Summit League postseason honors, announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon. Awards are based off performances in the 16 games of conference play and are voted on by coaches across the league.
King was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year and Uelmen earned a spot on the All-Newcomer Team, while both players landed spots on the All-Summit League Second Team. King is the fourth player in program history to receive Defensive Player of the Year honors and Uelmen is the first freshman since 2011 to be on an All-League squad.

King has been a staple for the Fighting Hawks on both sides of the ball this season, averaging 12.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game across 16 conference contests. He owned a 3.1 assist-to-turnover ratio in Summit League play.
The Caledonia, Minn. native ranked top-20 in the league in points (19th), while being top-15 in assists (15th), rebounds (9th) and blocks (7th). The guard led the league in steals per game, putting up 11 multi-steal performances, headlined by seven steals at Oral Roberts on Jan. 22.
The senior had two double doubles in conference play, posting 12 games with 10 or more points. King is currently sixth all-time in program history with 162 steals, and his 71 total steals overall this season ranks eighth in the country.
It is King’s third-straight season being apart of the Summit League All-Defensive team, earning Defensive Player of the Year for the first time in the division l era.
Greyson Uelmen | R-Fr. | G | Excelsior, Minn. | All-Newcomer Team & All-Summit League Second Team
Uelmen bursted onto the scene this season, averaging 18.6 points per game in conference play, ranking fifth in the Summit League. He shot the ball at a 46.3% clip from the field, scoring in double figures in 15-of-16 contests, currently on a double-digit streak of 15 contests.
The Excelsior, Minn. native has led the team in scoring in 11-of-16 conference games, posting 20 or more points in six different contests. He totaled a career-high 30 points on Jan. 24 at Denver, leading to him winning Summit League Peak Performer of the Week on Jan. 27.
The redshirt freshman shot 83.3% from the free throw line, being first in the conference in free throws attempted (108) and second in free throws made (85). Uelmen went 12-for-12 from the charity stripe on Feb. 19 against Kansas City, the game where he set the freshman single-season points record.
Along with scoring, Uelmen ranked 13th in the conference in assists per game (2.6), while grabbing 2.8 rebounds and snatching 1.1 steals per contest.
UND will be the three-seed in the Summit League Tournament, set to take on six-seeded Denver on Friday at 8:30 p.m. Below is a full list of the 2026 Summit League Awards.
