GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota head hockey coach Brad Berry announced that goaltender T.J. Semptimphelter (pronounced: SEMP-tim-felt-er) will transfer to UND for his final year of eligibility in 2024-25.
Semptimphelter comes to NoDak after spending the last two seasons at Arizona State and beginning his career with Northeastern. Last season, Semptimphelter posted a 16-5-4 mark, 2.52 goals against average, a .908 save percentage and three shutouts between the pipes to help the Sun Devils set a new program record with 24 wins on the campaign. He matched the program’s all-time shutout record in a win over Colorado College, stopping 38 shots in a 2-0 victory at Ed Robson Arena.
In his rookie campaign with ASU, he finished second in the NCAA in both saves (1,024) and minutes played (2050:35) while also finishing tied for fourth in the nation with five shutouts to earn a nomination for both the Hobey Baker Award and the Mike Richer Award.
The N.J., native started his career at Northeastern in 2021-22, playing in eight games with the Huskies and helping the program capture the Beanpot crown with a 41-save performance over Boston College.
Semptimphelter will graduate this spring from Arizona State with an undergraduate degree in finance and is expected to begin the MBA program at North Dakota.
