BROOKINGS, S.D.(NDSU Athletics) – Redshirt freshman Noah Feddersen scored on a tip-in with 1.3 seconds left in overtime, lifting the North Dakota State men’s basketball team to a thrilling 74-73 victory over South Dakota State at Frost Arena on Thursday night.
NDSU senior Boden Skunberg finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Andrew Morgan added 12 points for the Bison, and Jacari White had 10.
NDSU improved to 3-4 in Summit League play, while SDSU fell to 5-3 in the league.
Both teams led by 10 in the first half. After the Jackrabbits went up 16-6 early, the Bison fought back to take a 30-20 lead with 4:30 left before halftime.
The game was knotted at 55-55 with 3:51 remaining. NDSU went up by three points on four different occasions in the final three minutes, but SDSU’s Zeke Mayo made a long three-pointer to tie the game at 65-65 with five seconds left, forcing overtime.
Sophomore Lance Waddles scored NDSU’s first five points of the overtime period. With the Jackrabbits leading 73-72 and 0:35 left, the Bison got a stop on the defensive end. Skunberg’s attempt at a game-winner in the closing seconds missed, but Feddersen’s tip-in won the game for NDSU.
The Bison have now won three of the last four meetings against South Dakota State. It was NDSU’s fifth overtime game of the season, with the Bison improving to 4-1 in those contests.
The Bison will play at North Dakota on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
