(KFGO/KNFL) The Lincoln Stars evened the USHL’s Western Conference final with a 4-3 win over Fargo at Scheels Arena on Friday night in Game 2 of the series.
The Stars came back from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits. Fargo grabbed the early lead in the opening period. Mac Swanson’s rebound goal at 3:14 gave the Force a 1-0 lead, followed by a Boris Skalos goal at 7:37 made it 2-0. Skalos scored his 2nd goal of the playoffs.
Lincoln scored twice in the span of fourteen seconds early in the second period to tie the game 2-2. Boston Buckberger’s power-play goal from the right circle made it 2-1, followed by German Yavash scoring to tie it. The Force swiped the lead at 4:55 of the second as Girts Silkalans took a feed from behind the net and beat goalie Cameron Whitehead for a 3-2 lead.
Lincoln evened the game later in the period on a short-handed goal from Tanner Ludtke. The game stayed even until Mason Marcellus scored on a rebound with 9:20 left in the 3rd to give the Stars a 4-3 lead.
Whitehead stopped 23 shots for Lincoln, while Force goalie Matej Marinov stopped 26 shots.
Games 3 and 4 move to the Ice Box in Lincoln. Game time is 5:05 on Sunday, 7:05 on Monday. Both games will be heard on 740 The FAN.
