(KFGO/KNFL) It was another tight, intense playoff matchup at Scheels Arena as the Fargo Force hosted Tri-City in Game 2 of the USHL’s Western Conference semifinal. After Tri-City tied the game late in the third period, and picked up a power play in the opening seconds of overtime it looked if the Storm had momentum on their side.
Fargo’s Charlie Russell turned it around and called game.

Tri-City led 1-0 after the opening period. Russell tied it at 1-1 at 8:06 of the second period when he grabbed a pass at neutral ice, got free and scored from the right circle. Fargo grabbed its first lead of the evening at 1:39 of the 3rd period on a power-play tally from Verner Miettinen, his second of the series.
It stayed 2-1 until Tri-City’s Alex Bump jammed home a rebound off an Alex Richard shot, nestling it inside the goal pipe to even the game at 2-2 with 2:21 left in regulation.
Matej Marinov stopped 29 shots for the Force, who eliminated Tri-City from the postseason for the third time since 2018.
Fargo will host Games 1 and 2 of the USHL’s Western Conference Final on May 4 and 5 at Scheels Arena. Lincoln and Waterloo are tied 1-1 in their semifinal, with the deciding game to be played Sunday afternoon in Waterloo.
