(KFGO/KNFL) The Fargo Force open up the 2022-23 regular season in Pittsburgh, PA this weekend. All 16 USHL teams will play as part of the league’s Fall Classic.
Fargo will look to improve on a .500 season last year when they were eliminated in the opening round of the postseason by Omaha.
The Force will the Chicago Steel Thursday at 4:30, and Madison Friday 7:30. These games are two of only three games the Force will play versus Eastern Conference foes, the other being September 30 in Green Bay.
Fargo brings back some scoring punch, as their two leading scorers from the 2021-22 season return for this year with Bret Link (20 goals, 30 assists in 21-22) and Cole Knuble (20 goals, 29 assists). On defense, the Force return only two back from last season in Joe Palodichuk and Jakob Stender.
Anton Castro and Matej Marinov will start the season as the two Fargo goaltenders. Both spent time with the club last season, as Marinov went 9-6-1-1 with a 3.47 goals against average and an .85 save percentage. Castro split time with the Force and Aberdeen of the NAHL in 2021-22, compiling a 4-5-1-1 record, a 3.24 goals against average, and an .887 save percentage.
Fargo’s home opener is October 8th versus Sioux Falls at Scheels Arena.
