(KFGO/KNFL) Patrick Ledet pitched seven strong innings as the Sioux City Explorers won the rubber game of a three-game series, defeating the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 7-2 last night in Sioux City.
The win keeps the Explorers two games ahead of Lincoln in the race for the final playoff spot in the American Association’s Western Division.
Ledet allowed two runs on two hits in seven innings, striking out. Davis Feldman (6-6) took the loss for Fargo-Moorhead in losing his third straight start, allowing four hits and three earned runs in 3 1/3 innings.
Fargo-Moorhead visits Kansas City for a four-game series versus the Monarchs to finish the regular season. The RedHawks (63-33)lead the Monarchs (62-34) by one game for the Western Division lead. The red-hot Monarchs have won eight games in a row.
The RedHawks need at least a split of the four-game series to win the division and secure the #1 seed out of the West for the postseason.
The American Association playoffs begin September 7.
