Four Class A boys’ and girls’ semifinals were held on Friday from the Bismarck Event Center. Century and Minot advanced to the girls’ title game, while Minot and West Fargo will compete for the boys’ championship.
CENTURY GIRLS TO DEFEND CROWN AFTER DISPATCHING RED RIVER
The Patriots took down the Roughriders by a score of 57-41 Friday afternoon. The game was tied at 34-34 with 6:55 remaining in the second half before Century closed the game strong on a 23-7 run.
The Patriots were led by Logan Nissley, who had 24 points and 12 rebounds. Bergan Kinnebrew posted a double-double with 16 points and and 11 rebounds. The Patriots will look to claim their fourth straight ‘A’ title as they battle Minot Saturday night at 6:00 pm.
The Roughriders were led by Joci Schiller who had 23 points and 2 assists. The Roughriders will play Davies at 1:30 pm Saturday for the 3rd place game.

BELL STARS FOR MAJETTES IN VICTORY OVER DAVIES
Minot took care of business against Davies, winning 64-57 in the second girls semifinal to reach their first title bout since 2014.
Eighth-grader Leelee Bell was spectacular for the Majettes, exploding for 27 points and 9 rebounds. Mariah Evenson contributed 17 points and 8 rebounds. Minot will try to dethrone three-time defending champion Century Saturday night. The Patriots swept the regular season series and routed the Majettes in the WDA championship 76-52.
The Eagles relied heavily on Ashton Safranski, who had 16 points and 8 rebounds. Ava Wild preserved through early foul trouble to add 14 points and 3 rebounds. Davies will duke it out with Red River for third place.

MAGICIANS PUNCH TICKET TO CHAMPIONSHIP BY OUTLASTING MUSTANGS IN DOUBLE OT
In a scintillating semifinal affair, Minot held off West Fargo Sheyenne 64-61 in double overtime to reach the Class A boys’ championship game for the second consecutive year.
The Magicians were led by Darik Dissette, who had 25 points and 14 rebounds. Eric Wentz tallied 16 points and 7 rebounds and sealed the win by blocking a game-tying Davies corner three as time expired in the second overtime. Minot will take on defending champion West Fargo in a rematch of last year’s title game Saturday at 8:00 pm.
Sheyenne faces Davies in the 3rd place game Saturday at 3:30 pm. The Mustangs were led by Michael Nhial, who netted a double-double with 24 points 12 rebounds; Kaleb Larson added 10 points, all in the first half.

PACKER BOYS WITHSTAND LATE DAVIES SURGE, AIM FOR SECOND STRAIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
West Fargo survived a late rally from Fargo Davies to advance back to ‘A’ boys’ title game with a 78-72 triumph in the semifinals. Caden Zepeda drained a corner three with 1:55 remaining in the game to put the Packers up 72-60, but Davies scored nine unanswered to trim their deficit to 3 with 30 second left. The Eagles’ Mason Klabo was stripped on a three point attempt by Parker Nelson with time winding down to preserve West Fargo’s victory.
The Packers were paced by Carson Hegerle’s double double of 20 points and 10 rebounds. Nick Carlson had 14 points, 8 rebounds, and sunk two clutch free throws to make it a two-possession game for West Fargo late. The Packers will clash with Minot again for the title tomorrow night. The Packers bested the Magicians in last year’s championship 65-60.
Mason Klabo did all he could for the Eagles in the loss, pouring in 28 points and grabbing 5 rebounds. Alex Proctor chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Davies will vie with Sheyenne tomorrow for third place at 3:30 pm.
