COLFAX, ND – It was a slugfest for a majority of the contest, but Lisbon ground out a hard-earned 69-53 victory over Richland in Region 1 boys’ basketball Friday night.
The Broncos led at the half 30-27, but the Colts went on an impressive third quarter run to take a 43-35 lead. Lisbon then answered with a 10-0 run and capped off the quarter with a Wyatt Webb putback at the buzzer to hold a 50-45 advantage heading into the fourth.
Lisbon’s defensive pressure flustered Richland into turnovers that led to fast break points, and the Broncos got some timely 3-pointers and free throws down the stretch to separate from the Colts.
Broncos’ (2-3 overall, 1-2 Region 1) senior center Caleb Olson paced all scorers with 21 points along with 16 rebounds.
Richland (1-6 overall, 0-3 Region 1) was led by junior guard Teddy Flaa with 13 points.
The Colts will next travel to LaMoure-Litchville/Marion on Saturday, January 8th.
Lisbon will next host Oak Grove on Tuesday, January 11th.
