KINDRED, N.D. – Kindred will compete for a state championship for the first time since 2016 after demolishing Bowman County in an 11B semifinal 51-19 Saturday afternoon.
The Vikings opened the game with a safety after blocking the Bulldog’s punt in the endzone following a three and out. They took the ball and scored on the next drive after a 34 yard touchdown pass from Max McQuillan to tight end Max Opgrand. Kindred led 16-0 at the end of the first quarter and never looked back.
McQuillan and Trey Heinrich both rushed for over 150 yards. McQuillan threw two touchdowns and rushed for another, while Heinrich scored twice on the ground and once through the air. Kindred’s varsity offense overwhelmed Bowman County, scoring touchdowns on all but two of their possessions.
Bowman County ends their season 10-2. Quarterback Quaid Lardy threw two touchdowns in a losing effort.
Kindred’s (11-1) final stop will be at the Dakota Bowl next Friday, November 12th and will face #1 Hillsboro/CV in the second game of the day.
