FARGO — The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (4-3) won their home opener 6-1 over the Chicago Dogs (4-3) Wednesday night.
The RedHawks took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second when RF John Silviano hit a lead-off home run, his second home run of the season. 1B Correlle Prime added to the lead, making it 3-0 in the following inning on a two-run shot.
Chicago plated their first run in the top of the fourth on an RBI single by RF Danny Mars.
Fargo-Moorhead expanded their lead to 6-1 with a three-run fifth that included a two-run infield single off the bat of LF Jordan George.
RedHawks’ SP Kevin McGovern was in full command from the start, earning the win in a nine-strikeout seven-inning performance that included just one earned on three hits.
Fargo-Moorhead will play the Dogs Wednesday in game two of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:02 p.m. and pregame on 740 The Fan is set for 6:40 p.m.
