PAGE, N.D. (KFGO) – A 33-year-old Colgate, North Dakota man was killed in a train crash and derailment involving a combine near Page, North Dakota late Thursday morning.
“A combine was travelling southbound on that roadway while the train was going westbound. The combine did not stop at the rural railroad crossing, it did collide with the locomotive, the train. Unfortunately the driver of the combine did die from his injuries in the crash.” North Dakota Highway Patrol Sergeant Andrew Cashin says.
The crash happened on Cass County Road 1 west of Page. Around 20 train cars were derailed.
The Highway Patrol says the people on the train were not injured. The intersection is expected to be closed for at least the next 34 hours.
The public is being asked to avoid the area. The crash is still under investigation.
