SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KNFL/KFGO) – The Sioux City Explorers needed ten innings to handle the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, walking off the Birds on Zac Vooletich’s RBI single to left field. Sioux City defeated Fargo-Moorhead by a final score of 5-4.
Dillon Thomas led the RedHawks offensively with a 2-4 night that included a triple, walk and run scored. Other Fargo-Moorhead batters with multi-hit games included Jose Sermo and Michael Hallquist. The RedHawks tallied ten total hits in the game.
Voolitech had two of the Explorer’s six hits, including the walk-off single in the bottom of the tenth. He finished the game with one run driven in, one run scored and a walk in four plate appearances.
Felix Cepeda earned the win in relief for Sioux City. He tossed two innings allowing one hit and no runs. Garrett Alexander took the loss for Fargo-Moorhead.
The RedHawks slide to 46-34 this season, Sioux City improves to an American Association best 52-28.
