(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks were looking for the sweep tonight against the Winnipeg Goldeyes after securing a series win with a victory last night. Fargo-Moorhead would start the score incredibly early.
Lamar Sparks would crush a leadoff home run in the top of the 1st, off Goldeye’s starting pitcher, Mitchell Lambson, to make it 1-0 Fargo-Moorhead. In the same inning, Brendon Dadson would also smash a solo home run to make it 2-0. In the top of the 2nd, Lamar Sparks would deliver again on an 2 run single, and he would advance to 2nd on an error. That would make it 4-0, until a wild pitch scored Hunter Clanin from 3rd to make it 5-0. Then, Jose Sermo, would hit an RBI single to score Lamar Sparks to make it 6-0. The finishing touch in the 2nd, was a 3-run home run by Brendon Dadson, to make it 9-0 Fargo-Moorhead in the top of the 2nd. Andy Armstrong of Winnipeg would get the Goldeyes on the board after grounding out into a 6-4-3 double play, making it 9-1 in the bottom of the 2nd. Jose Sermo would delvier again on an RBI double in the top of the 3rd for the Redhawks to make it 10-1. Winnipeg would make it a little interesting, as Roby Enriquez delivered on a 2-run double in the bottom of the 6th to make it 10-3, and Jacob Robson would hit a solo home run to make it 10-4.
Kolby Kiser got the win on the mound for Fargo-Moorhead, pitching 6 full innings, while giving up 7 hits on 3 earned runs, 2 walks, while striking out 4. The loss goes to starting pitcher was Mitchell Lambson of Winnipeg, who went 4 and 2/3 innings.
Fargo-Moorhead has their 2nd straight sweep after sweeping Lincoln on Sunday, as well as their 6th straight victory. The Redhawks start a 3 game weekend series in Geneva, Illinois, against the Kane County Cougars on Friday.
