(KNFL/KFGO) – After sweeping a doubleheader against the Kansas City Monarchs last night, the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks looked to win the series tonight in the 3rd game of a 4 game series.
In the bottom of the 1st, Alec Olund started the scoring with an RBI single to make it 1-0. Blake Rutherford would deliver in the top of the 2nd for Kansas City, as he launched a 2 run home run to give the Monarchs a 2-1 lead. The game would be tied on an electric baserunning play by Micahel Hallquist, as he was able to steal home, and tie the game at 2 in the bottom of the 5th. The Redhawks would take the lead in the bottom of the 7th, as Juan Fernandez would be at the plate, and Hunter Clanin, a pinch runner for Nicholas Northcut, would be at 2nd, and Micahel Hallquist would be at 1st. Clanin and Hallquist would advance a base on a wild pitch. Then, a throwing error by the catcher Alvaro Gonzalez allowed Clanin to score. That gave the Redhawks their first lead at 3-2. Another wild pitch in the same 7th inning scored Michael Hallquist from 3rd base, leading to a 4-2 final.
Jake Dykhoff of the Redhawks would be the winning pitcher, going 7 innings, allowing 6 hits, 2 runs that were all earned, while striking out 3. The losing pitcher in relief was Patrick Pridgen of Kansas City.
The Redhawks win the 3 game series and will look for the sweep tomorrow afternoon. After the series finale, they will head to Kansas City for a 3 game weekend series. The pregame show tomorrow is set for 12:10 PM on AM 740 The FAN KNFL Fargo/107.3 FM.
