(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks were searching for a series win tonight against the Gary SouthShore RailCats, but Gary would get an excellent outing from their starter, Andres Diaz.
Andres Diaz would be throwing a shutout, going into the bottom of the 5th, where Carlos Machado ripped a 2 run double to help Gary strike first. With a 2-0 lead, Jarius Richards would get a base hit, and then Hunter Clanin made a throwing error from right field, allowing Carlos Machado to score. That would make it a 3-0 lead for Gary SouthShore. After Andres Diaz struck out his 10th batter in the top of the 7th, the RailCats would get a dagger in the bottom of the 7th, on a solo home run by Andres Noriega. 4-0 would be the lead for the RailCats until Brendon Dadson would deliver on an RBI single in the top of the 8th. However, that would be the final run of the game.
Andres Diaz would be the winning pitcher in the 4-1 RailCats victory. He went 7 innings, while only giving up 2 hits, 4 walks, while striking out 10 batters. Orlando Rodriguez would be the losing pitcher. He went 7 innings, while giving up 8 hits, 4 runs with 3 being earned, 1 walk, while striking out 3.
The Redhawks will aim for the series win tomorrow afternoon in Gary, Indiana. Fargo-Moorhead will start a 3 game weekend series with the Sioux Falls Canaries starting Friday.
