University of South Dakota quarterback Aidan Bouman threw two touchdowns in the final four minutes of the game to secure a 29-28 victory over NDSU. The Bison looked like they would come away with the victory after quarterback Cam Miller directed the NDSU offense to a 99-yard touchdown drive when CharMat Brown scored from one yard out to make the score 28-17 with only 4:10 left in the game.
Bouman was able to get a quick strike on the next drive with a 40 yard touchdown to make the score 28-23 after the two point try failed. The Coyote defense was able to force the Bison to punt, using all three of their timeouts in the process. Bouman was able to drive USD in position deep in NDSU territory and took advantage of a broken coverage by the Bison to throw a 25 yard touchdown strike to Javion Phelps for the game winning score with only twelve seconds left. The two-point try was no good and NDSU couldn’t find a miracle in the final seconds to give USD the 29-28 victory.
