WAHPETON, N.D. (KFGO) – A woman was arrested Thursday night after a standoff in Wahpeton.
Around 6:30, police responded to a residence for someone violating a protection order and vandalism. Officers located the suspect, a 41-year-old woman, sitting inside a vehicle. As officers approached, the woman threatened officers with a shotgun barricaded herself inside the vehicle, and laid down out of view.
Police set up a shelter-in-place for residents in a 12-block radius. After an hour and a half of trying to establish contact with the woman, the Southern Valley Special Response Team responded. Officers were able to break into the vehicle and arrest the woman.
She is being held in the Richland County Jail pending charges of violation of a protection order, reckless endangerment, and resisting arrest.
