Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton’s great season came to an end Saturday at US Bank Stadium in the Minnesota State AAA Semifinals, losing to Stewartville 28-7. After a defensive struggle throughout most of the first quarter, the Tigers were able to sustain a 60 yard drive to score on a Carter Miller five yard touchdown run from a direct snap from center to go up 6-0, with the point after attempt failing. The Rebels got on the board after both teams traded possessions with quarterback Caleb Johnson scoring from one yard out to get DGF’s first score with 16 seconds left in the first half. The point after attempt was good, and the Rebels had a 7-6 at halftime.
The momentum was with DGF to start the third quarter with the ball. That quickly changed when Stewartville intercepted the ball, breaking up a screen pass attempt from Johnson to Brody Friend and returned it for a touchdown to regain the lead. The two-point conversion attempt was good and the Tigers took a 14-7 lead. Stewartville’s defense stepped up strong in the second half, and the Rebels were not able to score again, while the Tigers ripped off two more touchdowns with quarterback Ayden Helder throwing two scores to wide receiver Parker Wangen. With the 28-7 loss DGF finishes up the season 10-2.
