BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – The head of North Dakota’s Dept. of Health and Human Services is leaving. Commissioner Chris Jones will resign effective Sept. 15.
Jones says he’s pursuing a position as Vice-President and Senior Fellow at Texas-based Cicero Institute, a nonpartisan public policy organization. In 2017, Gov. Doug Burgum appointed Jones as Executive Director of the Dept. of Human Services.
Jones has served as HHS Commissioner since Sept. 2022, following the merger of the departments of Health and Human Services.
Burgum has appointed Deputy Health and Human Services Commissioner Sara Stolt to serve as interim commissioner.
