ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter announced his office’s plans for the city’s 2024 budget but observed a moment of silence to mark the recent fatal shooting of 12-year-old Markee Jones.
Jones was shot and killed last weekend at a birthday sleepover by his 14-year-old brother, who has since been released from custody on the family’s pleas that it was an accident.
Carter also addressed St. Paul’s gun violence, safe storage ordinance, and detailed the launch of Project Peace, to help keep the city safe.
