ST. PAUL, Minn. – Authorities suspect fireworks sparked a blaze that heavily damaged an apartment building in St. Paul’s Highland Park neighborhood Sunday afternoon.
No one was injured, but all 17 units have been condemned. About 30 residents are displaced, and a preliminary estimate puts damage at $2 million.
Residents reported hearing fireworks before seeing flames on the building’s lawn. Investigators said gusty winds fanned the fire, which spread to nearby trees and jumped into the attic of the apartment building.
