WOODBURY, Minn. – Animal shelters see an increase in the number of strays, abandoned animals, and lost pets on and around the 4th of July weekend each year.
Woodbury Animal Humane Society spokesperson Astrid Roed said a lot of it can be attributed to fireworks.
“Those noises scare pets and they’re more likely to just react and bolt,” Roed said.
Roed said if your pet has gone missing, check your local shelter’s website and area impounds, but before that – make sure your pet has a collar with your information or invest in a microchip.
