FARGO, ND – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks dominated the Sioux Fall Canaries 12-3 Wednesday night.
Sioux Falls jumped on the board with a Darnell Sweeney solo home run in the top of the first to give the Canaries a 1-0 lead.
Fargo-Moorhead got on the board in the bottom of the second inning when Sam Dexter hit a 2-run triple plating Leo Pina and John Silviano to take a 2-1 lead. Dexter would score on an Evan Alexander RBI single to make it 3-1. Manny Boscan hit a 2-run double scoring Alexander and B.J. Lopez to lift the ‘Hawks to a 5-1 lead
The RedHawks extended the lead to 6-1 on a Dillon Thomas RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The ‘Hawks added a run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Alexander hit into a fielder’s choice and plated Correlle Prime to make it 7-1.
The Canaries cut into the lead on a 2-run home run by Jabari Henry in the top of the seventh inning to make it 7-3 RedHawks.
Pina added a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the RedHawks an 8-3 lead. The RedHawks added 4 more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a 21-3 lead.
The RedHawks and Canaries continue their series Thursday night, Jack Michaels will have the call, pregame at 6:40 p.m. first pitch 7:02 p.m. on 740 The Fan and 107.3FM.
