FARGO (KFGO) – Fargo Police announced that four men have been arrested for the May 22 shooting death of 16-year-old James Moore of West Fargo outside an apartment complex in Fargo.
Capt. Bill Ahlfeldt said, after talking to witnesses and people involved, they are confident the shooting happened during a drug robbery.
“Actions taken by individuals who participated in that drug transaction led to the death of James Moore,” Ahlfeldt said. “Four individuals have been arrested in relation to this incident. All are being charged with some form of felony offense.”
Marcus Rexrode, 31, and 41-year-old Marcus McCuin, both of Fargo, are facing murder, drug, and firearms charges. Fabian Scott, 19, of West Fargo is facing murder and robbery charges. Tommie Trent, 36, of Moorhead is facing drug charges.
Rexrode is accused of firing the shot that killed Moore, but McCuin and Scott are also facing murder charges.
“We knew quite some time ago who the person was that pulled the trigger that killed Mr. Moore, but others could be and will be held responsible for their actions involved in this case,” Assistant Cass County State’s Attorney Ryan Younggren said. “So, when you see charges like murder against other individuals that may not have been the people that pulled the trigger, there’s some legal theories under which we can charge some of those individuals.”
Rexrode was arrested last Thursday in south Fargo. West Fargo Police said Scott was taken into custody during a high-risk warrant service Tuesday night near the 200 block of 9 ½ Avenue W.
Three handguns have been recovered during the investigation so far.
Chief Dave Zibolski said more arrests are possible.
