HORACE, N.D. (KFGO/KVRR) — Another city council member could be recalled after a petition was submitted and approved in Horace.
Petitioners gathered the required 98 valid signatures to initiate the process to recall Stephanie Landstrom.
The petition to recall Landstrom was filed after some residents and real estate agents became upset when the council voted not to extend its tax abatement program for new-home construction in January.
The recall election is scheduled for Aug. 15 at the Horace Fire Hall. Landstrom has the option to resign her position to avoid being put on the ballot.
The filing deadline for other candidates who want to be on the ballot is June 13.
In 2021, council members David Fenelon and Bryan Schmidt were recalled over rising taxes.
