(KFGO/KNFL) The Fargo Force clinched its first Anderson Cup on Friday night with a 7-1 rout of Sioux Falls on Friday night at Scheels Arena. The Anderson Cup is awarded to the USHL’s regular-season champion.
Fargo scored three goals in a span of 2:01 late in the first period. Bret Link, Verner Miettinen, and Girts Silkalns added goals to give the Force a 3-0 lead.
Zam Plante, Anthony Menghini, and Mac Swanson also added goals for the Force. Link added another goal in the third period on his second successful penalty shot in the last three games.
Matej Marinov stopped 37 shots for the Force. With the win, Fargo set franchise records with wins (39) and points (86).
