BRITTON, S.D. (KFGO) – A Havana, N.D., man has been identified as the person who died last Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash east of Britton.
Preliminary crash information indicates that a pickup was eastbound on South Dakota Highway 10 when it entered the westbound lane and collided head-on with a westbound car.
William Krafka, the 83-year-old driver of the pickup, was dead at the scene. Cade Roerig of Eden, S.D., the 19-year-old driver of the car, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to an Aberdeen hospital.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
A portion of the highway was closed to traffic for about five hours. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
