(KFGO/KNFL) Top-seed Central Cass survived a scare from underdog Warwick and Des Lacs-Burlington held off Thompson at the State Class B Boys Basketball Tournament in Bismarck.
Trailing 43-38 after three quarters, the Squirrels went on a 19-0 run in the final quarter in a 58-46 win over Warwick. Elijah Feather gave the Warriors the lead after sinking three consecutive three-pointers. Cole Holzer led the Squirrels (24-0) with 16 points, 19 rebounds and five assists. Mason Bosse added five points early in the fourth quarter to tie the game and ended up with 10 for the game.
Feather led Warwick with 19 points, including five three-pointers.
In its first State Class B appearance since 1998, Des Lacs-Burlington beat Thompson 55-48. The Lakers built a 33-18 halftime lead. Thompson rallied in the third quarter with four three-pointers, three from Drew Overby. The Tommies got as close as four points in the fourth quarter but couldn’t complete the comeback.
Carson Yale led DL-B with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Braylon Fisher added 13 points and nine rebounds. The Lakers will meet Central Cass in the semifinals Friday night at 8:40.
Jake Starcevic led Thompson with 15 points and six rebounds.
