ST. PAUL, Minn. – An appointed council is increasing state lawmakers’ salaries at the Minnesota Legislature 7.25 percent, to $51,750 effective in July.
Legislative Salary Council Chairman Jim Fleming said legislators are choosing not to run because of the money, particularly in Greater Minnesota.
The pay increase will cost taxpayers about $811,000 per year.
