(KFGO/KNFL) The NDSCS basketball teams host the North Central District Championships on Saturday in Wahpeton.
The women’s basketball final starts the day at 1:00 PM. NDSCS (28-4) plays Highland Community College (14-15) from Illinois in a rematch from last season’s final, won by the Wildcats 72-44 at Highland. The winner qualifies for the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Lubbock, TX March 22-27. The Wildcats won the Region XIII title last weekend with wins over Lake Region and Williston St.
NDSCS is seeking its fifth trip to nationals since 2017.
The men’s basketball final will be at 3:00 with NDSCS (29-3) facing Southeastern Community College (24-8) from West Burlington, IA. NDSCS won the Region XIII title last weekend with wins over Williston State and Dawson, and have won 14 consecutive games. Southeastern is the Region XI champion, defeating perennial power Indian Hills in the final.
NDSCS is seeking its first trip to nationals since 2016. The winner heads to Hutchinson, KS to the NJCAA Division I Tournament March 20-25.
