(KFGO/KNFL) It’ll come down to one game to decide the American Association West Division title on Monday in Kansas City, as the Monarchs roughed up the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 12-3 on Sunday at Legends Field.
The Monarchs win puts them in a tie with the RedHawks at 64-35 overall. The winner of Monday afternoon’s game will win the American Association West Division, and will have the choice of what team they’ll face in the opening round of the postseason starting Wednesday.
Kansas City roughed up RedHawks starter Tyler Grauer with four runs in the bottom of the 3rd and five more runs in the 5th. Ryan Grotjohn had a double, triple, and 5 RBI for KC, and Jan Hernandez added a three-run home run.
Nick Novak homered for the RedHawks.
In the Eastern Division , Chicago clinched a division title with a 3-0 victory over Kane County in Sunday evening.
