FARGO, N.D. — Saturday was the day for the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks to get the bats going as they defeated the Lake Country DockHounds, 14-3, in front of 3,292 fans at Newman Outdoor Field. Left fielder Rymer Liriano went 4-for-5 with 3 RBI and hit his second home run of the season. RedHawks designated hitter, Drew Ward, hit a double and a home run and led the RedHawks with five runs batted in.
Fargo-Moorhead (17-9) left-handed starter Tyler Grauer (2-1) pitched six innings and got the win after allowing three runs on nine hits. Grauer struck out nine DockHound batters and didn’t allow a walk. LHP Brady Stover, RHP Luke Lind, and RHP Alex DuBord all pitched an inning of relief and didn’t allow a run in the win. Lind and DuBord each gave up one hit in their outing.
Fargo-Moorhead jumped out to a 13-0 lead and hit four home runs through the first three innings of the game. Right fielder John Silviano (1-for-4, walk, two runs scored) hit a three-run home run, his eighth of the season, in the first inning. Evan Alexander hit a solo home run in the third inning.
Lake Country starter Devin Beckley (0-2) pitched two innings and allowed 11 runs (ten unearned) on eight hits and three walks and earned the loss. LHP Mitch Sparks pitched four innings of relief and allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out three batters. LHP Jesse Remington pitched the final two innings and allowed one run on three hits.
Lake Country scored all three of their runs on six hits in the fourth inning. First baseman Aaron Takacs went 3-for-4 with a double with an RBI and a run scored. Center fielder Daikan Yoh went 2-for-4, with a double and RBI.
The RedHawks (17-9) and DockHounds (12-15) will conclude their three-game series tomorrow at Newman Outdoor Field with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m. LHP Sebastian Kessay (3-0, 3.75 ERA) will start for the RedHawks and RHP Alex McRae (1-1, 2.61 ERA) is slated to start for the DockHounds.
