GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO) – The Grand Forks Police Department has identified a man pulled from the Red River Saturday evening.
Police said Jacob Lasley, 32, of Red Lake, Minn. was recovered from the river in the area of the Pedestrian Bridge near the north boat landing.
Around 6 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to reports of a deceased person caught in a log jam. Crews extracted the victim from the water and sent the body to the UND Pathology lab where it was identified as Lasley.
According to police, there were no obvious signs of trauma, but investigators are still working to determine the cause of death.
Lasley was reported missing on Apr. 17. Based on the investigation timeline, investigators believe Lasley was the person reported to be in the Red River on Apr. 8.
At that time, the Grand Forks Sheriff’s Officer Water Operations Team and Grand Forks Fire Department conducted a search along with multiple other entities, but were unable to find anyone.
