SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of North Dakota track and field teams placed four student-athletes on the Summit League All-Conference Team on Tuesday, the league office announced. The four Fighting Hawks earned all-conference accolades by finishing in the top three in their respective events at the Summit League Indoor Championships last weekend.
Elise Ulseth headlines the all-conference team for North Dakota, becoming the Summit League Indoor Pentathlon Champion on Friday with a school record of 4,080 points. Her point total in the pentathlon currently ranks No. 21 nationally.
On her way to the pentathlon title, Ulseth won three of the five pentathlon events and finished second in both the shot put and 800 meters. In the second pentathlon event on Friday, Ulseth broke the school record in the high jump with a clearance of 5-9 1/4 (1.76m). She also set a personal-best in the shot put with a throw of 37-2 1/2 (11.34m) and is the only Hawk in school history to accumulate over 4,000 points in the pentathlon.
Erica Benson, who finished as the runner-up at the 2021 Summit League Indoor Championships, became a two-time indoor all-conference honoree with a second-place finish at the 2022 Summit League Championships in the pentathlon with 3,712 points. Her point total last weekend improved her to No. 2 in school history. Benson was second in the pentathlon high jump with a leap of 5-7 (1.70m), while also running a personal-best time of 2:23.31 in the pentathlon 800 meters.
Natalie Mohring garnered all-conference accolades for the first time of her career on Friday afternoon, taking third in the weight throw with a toss of 63-0 1/4 (19.21m). During the regular season, Mohring won the weight throw title at both the UND Open and SDSU Indoor Classic. Her season-best throw of 63-2 3/4 (19.27m) at the UND Tune-Up currently ranks third in school history.
Austin Wolf was the final Fighting Hawk named to the Indoor All-Summit League Team, earning a third-place finish in the high jump on Saturday with a height of 6-6 1/4 (1.99m). His career-best leap was 6-8 3/4 (2.05m) at the 2020 SDSU Indoor Classic, good for the No. 4 mark on the UND top-10 list.
