FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota track and field team sent the throwers to Fargo on Friday to compete in day one of the Bison Open, with a trio of Fighting Hawks placing on the first day of the meet.
Natalie Mohring had a personal-best mark of 61-10 1/4 (18.85m) in the women’s weight throw to finish as the runner-up, also tying the third-best throw on the UND all-time top-10 performance list.
Allison Lardy and Eve Goldstein joined Mohring in the event and went 5-6. Lardy took fifth with a lob of 56-10 1/4 (17.33m), while Goldstein placed sixth with a personal-best distance of 54-4 3/4 (16.58m).
On the men’s side, Garrett Shumski finished ninth in the weight throw with a toss of 50-2 3/4 (15.31m).
The Hawks will begin day two of the Bison Open with track events at Noon and field events at 1 p.m.
