GRAND FORKS, N.D. (UND Athletics)– University of North Dakota football senior offensive lineman Matt Waletzko has been named to the 2022 Reese’s Senior Bowl Watchlist on Thursday morning.
The Reese’s Senior Bowl is the nation’s most prestigious college all-star game, as it annually serves as the first step of the NFL Draft process. The Reese’s Senior Bowl had 106 total players drafted and 36 selected in the first three rounds this year’s NFL Draft. The 106 figure represents 41% of the NFL Draft. This year’s game will be held February 5, 2022 and broadcast on the NFL Network. Practices will be live on ESPN and NFL Network hosts a daily recap show each evening in primetime.
After an ACL tear kept him out for most of the 2019 season, Waletzko returned last year to help anchor an offensive line that was near the tops in the FCS. UND surrendered just two sacks all season, including just one in the regular season, to rank inside the top-3 in the nation while topping the FCS in fewest negative plays allowed. The Hawks also led the Missouri Valley Football Conference in scoring offense with 29.9 points per game.
The senior has collected a pair of preseason All-America accolades and was named to the MVFC All-Preseason First Team in August.
No. 8 North Dakota opens the season at Idaho State on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. from Pocatello, Idaho.
